As a BPI (Building Performance Institute) Accredited Contractor, Connecticut Home Energy Solutions will perform a home energy audit, which generally lasts two to four hours, and costs a nominal fee. This comprehensive assessment provides you with valuable information — our "report card" — regarding the existing condition of your home, and identifies areas where energy efficiency, comfort and safety improvements can be made. (By the way, you are strongly encouraged to watch the process and ask questions while we perform our audit.)

Your home energy audit may include:

• Blower door testing and blower door guided air sealing, using a special large fan (blower door) that is mounted in an exterior door to measure air leakage
  
• Duct testing and duct sealing, using another large fan (duct blaster) to measure air leakage in your duct system
  
• Air flow measurement through ducts while your heating or cooling system is operating
• Installation of compact fluorescent light bulbs
  
• Installation of water and hot water saving measures, such as low-flow showerheads and aerators
  
• Identification of older, less efficient heating and cooling equipment, home appliances, and insulation
  

At the conclusion of the visit, Connecticut Home Energy Solutions will then provide you with a summary of work that has been completed during your energy audit ... as well as identify short- and long-term solutions to remedy any problem areas in your home — ranging from sealing and weather-stripping your home to upgrading your boiler or furnace.

Financial incentives, such as the stimulus bill tax credits and rebates from the State of Connecticut, may be available to help pay for these energy-efficient home improvements - and we will provide you with any rebate forms and other information you need.
