Bioheat Fuel

At Wilcox Fuel/Old Lyme Oil, we are proud to now be able to offer Biofuel to our customers. Our B5 blend consists of 95% heating oil and 5% Biofuel, which is a non-toxic, biodegradable fuel that has many benefits.

Here are six reasons why Biofuel is better:

• Biofuel is homegrown. Domestically produced, Biofuel helps support our nation’s farmers and reduces our dependence on foreign oil.
• Biofuel burns clean. It contains almost no sulfur, and significantly reduces particulates and greenhouse gases.
• Biofuel costs about the same as conventional Oilheat.
• Biofuel has the highest BTU content of any alternative fuel, for more efficient burning.
• Biofuel is delivered to you in the same manner as regular heating oil.
• Biofuel lubricates heating system parts more thoroughly and efficiently, reducing the number of service calls needed annually.

Officials at the U.S. Department of Agriculture estimate that if everyone in the Northeast with an oil furnace used a B5 blend, 50 million gallons of regular heating oil could be conserved annually.
